RWS Entertainment recently expanded their studios and required a playful facelift to brand the former garage space into a premier rehearsal, casting and rental space for Broadway, cruise ship and other performing arts needs.  The industrial nature of the building with exposed beams and a concrete floor was juxtaposed with bright RWS red throughout.  A playful band of red acrylic leads one down the narrow, tall hallway, lined with a linear, graphic collage of performances past.  From the kitchen to the lounge, a theatrical sensibility was featured through oversized, vinyl decals on each studio door, marquee signage, and the mixed use of surface treatments.  A magnetic map of Long Island City allows performers to indicate their favorite neighborhood haunts.  Modular seating in the lounge can accommodate varied-sized casts of performers on a whim.  As RWS says, this is truly a space in which dreams are made and now, it reflects the whimsical nature of their company.
