COLORFUL & BOLD PREWAR APARTMENT | Harlem, NYC

Photography by Emil Cohen

Spoiler alert:  This is self-portrait (as one half of a married couple in Harlem).  Moving in with my husband (a few years before we were engaged) was a journey, in terms of finding our style.  Although we share many things in common, finding that middleground took some time, though we found it.  As creative people, we respond to bold colors.  The deep teal of the walls throughout the living room and halls brings us comfort while still giving a dramatic flair.  The gallery wall in the living room reflects us while maximizing the height of the space.  The tomato-colored sofa complements the room wonderfully and offsets the bright yellow patterned curtains and immediately reinforces our playful, yet considered aesthetic.  Touches of mid-century modern and a bit eclectic,at home in our space.
